MainGear intros F1X gaming PC series

Custom PC maker MainGear on Wednesday introduced a new series of gaming PCs, the F1X, which is made up of the flagship F1X 750, F1X 500 and F1X 200. The F1X 750 has an overclocked Core i7 CPU to 3.6GHz, MainGear's own X30 liquid-cooling and 12GB of RAM. It claims a graphics edge as well with dual ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards in CrossFire mode.

Storage is an equal strong point as a 80GB SSD drive helps speed up booting or disk-intensive games, while a 1.5TB Western Digital hard drive provides the brunt of free space. A Blu-ray burner and dual-layer DVD burner, along with a 1,000W power supply, round out the specs.

The F1X 500 has a slightly slower i7 chip, overclocked to 3.3GHz, as well as dual ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card in CrossFire. There is also 12GB of RAM, and a single, 1TB hard drive. A 22x dual-layer DVD burner is also present, as is the same X20 water cooling system. Power comes from a 750W supply.

The F1X 200 is the most pedestrian of the three, with a 2.93GHz Core i5 and dual ATI Radeon HD 5750 cards, again in a CrossFire setup. It carries 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. The same burner, cooling system and power supply as the F1X 500 are retained.

All three systems ship with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The F1X 750's pricing begins at $5,149, the F1X 500 at $3,099 and the F1X 200 at $2,249.
