Yelp 4.0.0 adds several major features
Developers Yelp and Skype have updated their flagship iPhone apps, introducing significant changes. The free Yelp app is now at v4.0.0, and adds a check-in option, which tells friends that a person is visiting a particular business. Frequent visiting marks a person as a regular, and the system can also be used to locate a user via map or Monocle views.
The Monocle mode has been upgraded with rotating map shown when a device is held flat. Other changes include the ability to see bookmarks on a map, and browse full profiles, including images, reviews and tips. Check-ins and tips can be posted to Facebook and Twitter. Yelp runs on iPhones and iPod touches with iPhone 3.0 firwmare.
The Skype VoIP app, likewise free, has been updated to v1.3. Users can now write instant messages in landscape mode, and access a new Hints and Tips feature. Requirements are identical to those of Yelp.
