Mac Notepad 7.0 adds drag-and-drop import, export

updated 01:20 pm EST, Mon January 18, 2010

Also extends format support, interface

Apimac has released v7.0 of Mac Notepad, a notetaking utility. Text for entries is either copied in or manually typed, and in all cases the app organizes according to title and category. A search option and a Recents menu make it easier to find notes; confidential information can be password-protected. Version 7.0 is said to have "many" interface improvements, among which are a new mail note feature, and a categories source list.

Multiple notes can now be selected simultaneously, and import and export has been simplified with drag-and-drop commands. Format support now includes plain and styled text, and several filetypes: RTF, HTML, ODT, DOCX, Word XML and regular Word DOC files using '97-2004 formatting. The software costs $40, and runs on Mac OS X 10.4 or better. A free demo is also available.

    Way overpriced...

$40 for what is essentially a text viewer/editor? Ridiculous. It should be $7 to $10 and nothing more.
