Woz admits preferring Nexus One over iPhone

updated 11:00 am EST, Fri January 15, 2010

Woz makes unusual choice of Android

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak surprised onlookers in a newly-published interview (viewable below) with word that he prefers the Nexus One. While he still prefers the iPhone and carries two of them, he told NBC's Class Action that his favorite device is a "non-Apple product" that had just come out the day before the January 6th taping, leaving only Google's new Android phone as an option. He didn't explain his reasons behind his new tastes.

Although still technically an employee of Apple and frequently devoted to its products, Wozniak is known to have an active interest in technology as a whole and has started outside projects like the short-lived Wheels of Zeus. The Nexus One is pitched at power users as it runs a clean copy of the latest build of Android. Its platform also appeals to hobbyist developers as it has lighter restrictions and encourages modification even down to basic operating system elements like the phone dialer.

Its hardware is also technically superior in some areas to the current iPhone 3GS, including its AMOLED display and 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

    Gadget

He says his favourite gadget is one that just came out yesterday. I don't see why this is even news, who would ever want to be involved with any company if it meant you always had to shackle yourself to only its products for the rest of your life.

    Employee?

Since when is Woz an Apple Employee again? He left Apple years ago. Article is misleading.

    Serial Contrarian

This Steve is a serial contrarian and would say the sky is orange to get attention. I don't know why anyone is still interested in what he has to say. He is as irrelevant as Kurzweil. That's why he's called the Woz and not the "IS".

    Woz sez stuff

You never know what he'll say. The guy is a free spirit/loose cannon, etc., but he was brilliant when it counted.

    The WOZ

First of all, Woz is awesome. Any self-respecting geek loves the gadget that came out yesterday, of course.

Second, he is still an Apple employee and draws a paycheck. You can check that right here:http://www.woz.org/letters/general/53.html

Finally, he prefers the iPhone and carries TWO of them, so I think the iPhone still wins out. hehe..

It's cool that Woz still matters. Long live Woz!!! Yes, he's quirky, we all know that, so give the article the weight it's due.

    Yawn, Deja Vu revisited.

This has already been discredited just shows you how Chinese whispers can spread amongst the ill informed which for a supposed on the ball tech site is a little disappointing.
