Remote access tech goes cross-platform
Citrix has debuted the final version of GoToMyPC 7.0, its updated remote access service. The service is now available to Mac owners, who can use it to access remote computers by installing necessary client software and logging into the Citrix website. Access is also cross-platform, meaning that a Mac can tap into a Windows system, and vice versa.
Costs begin at $20 a month, or $180 per year, both of which provide access to a single computer. Adding a second computer raises prices to $30 a month, or $270 per year. Businesses and professionals can subscribe to special plans. All plans include free updates to software and the service itself.

LogMeIn does this for free
Citrix is charging 19.95 per PC, per month for this service, however LogMeIn.com provides a free trial of their best Pro package, which reverts to a Free basic feature version if you dont subscribe. Furthermore, they also have LogMeIn Ignition for iPodTouch and iPhone is $30 (on special recently at $20 in iTunes App Store)
Ignition allows one to control a Mac or a PC from the portable's touch screen interface. This works pretty well considering it saves driving to a remote site when just a few clicks will do. Other features of LogMeIn include Wake On LAN capability on PCs if you set the BIOS CMOS to allow Wake on LAN. I think Citrix needs to come up with a similar offering, as they are not competitive in price or features, and they are late to the game with cross-platform support. www.itvelociti.com
