Epson outs BrightLink 450Wi interactive projector

Epson in its latest launch has revealed the BrightLink 450Wi, a projector that lets teachers create an interactive learning area from any standard whiteboard or smooth wall. This capability eliminates the need to install dedicated interactive whiteboards in a classroom. The 3LCD ultra-short throw projector includes two digital infrared pens and a wall-mount bracket.

The projector is rated at 2,500 lumens of white light output and 2,500 lumens of color light output. It also has a native 1280x800 resolution and can throw up images between 59 and 96 inches at that resolution, or up to 102 inches at a reduced 1024x768 resolution. An Ethernet port is integrated for connecting to an institution's network. The projector can be mounted just 2.8 inches away from the wall or whiteboard, at can produce an image up to 60 inches in size from just 18 inches away. The lamp is rated at 3,500 hours of life in economy mode.

There is also a closed captioning decoder, and EasyMP Monitor software lets administrators broadcast messages over the network. A USB port allows a quick connection to Windows PCs or Macs. There is a dedicated microphone input and a built-in 10W speaker.

The Epson BrightLink 450Wi will ship this spring, with pricing set at under $2,000.
