Super Talent unveils USB 3.0 RAIDDrive at CES

updated 06:15 pm EST, Sat January 9, 2010

Offers transfer speeds over 300MBps

Super Talent has unveiled a new USB powered RAID storage system at CES, the RAIDDrive USB 3.0. The device offers transfer speeds over 300MBps when used with USB 3.0 supported systems -- five times the speed of USB 2.0 -- and is also backwards compatible with earlier USB ports. It should nonetheless be reliable, keeping data for 10 years or more, and uses a special USAP transfer protocol which is said to offer additional speed enhancements through bi-directional data transfers.

The RAIDDrive is only slightly taller than an internal notebook drive at 15.4mm tall and comes in 32, 64 and 128GB models. Pricing and exact ship dates haven't been mentioned and may be high through the added speed.
