CES Live: Dell press conference on new laptops, more?

updated 11:50 am EST, Thu January 7, 2010

Live from Dell's press conference

Dell today is holding an event to launch new computers and handheld devices at CES; expected are Core i5 notebooks and the Streak, an Android tablet. Updates are available in reverse chronological order after the jump.

Keynote ends.

9:14AM: Short video shown of the Streak to "whet your appetite;" admits they didn't show much of the Adamo last year, but this is more.

9:12AM: Dell shows the Streak as a "tablet concept." Clearly running Android, but no other details initially.

Now in Q&A. Tablet runs Android, 5-inch screen. Can't say if it will reach the market.

9:05AM: Alienware M11x. 11-inch display, GeForce GT 335M. The graphics processor is the most important part. 6.5 hours of battery life at max; has a gaming mode that switches from integrated to dedicated graphics, albeit 2 hours on battery. Crysis at 50FPS, other games running at full speed.

A desktop "demo" nearby is actually the M11x. Under $1,000.

8:57AM: Reviewing the new Mini 10 (already released).

8:54AM: New Inspiron notebooks using Core i5. In some cases using the same design as the CULV notebooks, but with much faster processors. Updated Studios too, same feature upgrades.

8:51AM: Keynote started, recapping the Adamo designs; a new notebook from the "Dell labs" will be shown today. Emphasis on mobility.
