Juice Pack Air available for iPod touch
Several accessory makers have announced new iPhone and iPod touch cases in parallel with the ongoing CES expo in Las Vegas. mophie has unveiled a new version of the Juice Pack Air, now designed for the second- and third-generation models of the iPod touch. The case protects the back of a Touch while simultaneously extending battery life. The Air is distinguished from the regular Juice Pack by a compact design, which comes at the expense of battery life.
The Air provides an additional 30 hours of audio (or 7 hours of video), whereas the standard Juice Pack supplies up to an extra 42 hours. A passthrough USB port allows an iPod to charge and sync without being removed from its protection. The case will go on sale online and at Apple Stores in late February at a cost of $80.
Case-mate has introduced the Hug, a combination of a case and pad which allows an iPhone 3G or 3GS to charge wirelessly. Once the case is attached, owners need only place an iPhone on the pad to begin charging. The pad shuts off once a battery is full. Case-mate is launching the Hug later this month for $90.
Technocel is launching the Slider Skins, also for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Each has a glossy, water-resistant surface, intended in part to be easily pulled out of a pocket. A variety of different colors and designs are planned. All models cost $20 apiece.
