updated 12:10 pm EST, Wed January 6, 2010

Integrated mount foldable for transportation

TomTom on Wednesday announced that its entry-level EASE navigation system is headed for the North American market. The device features an integrated EasyPort mount which folds flat for portability. A 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen offers 320x240 resolution, while the company's EasyMenu interface has been improved with a simple two-icon layout.

The device is pre-loaded with US maps from Tele Atlas, along with 3 million points of interest (POIs). Text-to-speech support allows users to listen to navigation alerts such as upcoming turns.

The EASE is expected to ship early this year, although pricing has yet to be announced.
