Frame converts pictures into virtual paintings

Casio has introduced the Digital Art Frame, a new display that applies artistic effects to images. The frame integrates a 10.2-inch LCD, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, a light sensor for brightness adjustment, and a proximity sensor for automatic power control. Internal memory provides 2GB of storage, while users can expand the memory with an SD card.

The frame features the unique ability to process images and apply a variety of effects. Users can press a button to convert photos into virtual water-color paintings, color pencil sketches, pastel paintings, oil paintings, and several other styles.

Facial recognition technology is claimed to highlight facial characteristics and leave the faces recognizable. Users can also apply Dynamic Photo processing to create composite moving images, while Flash Lite integration supports content such as clocks and calendars.

Casio's Digital Art Frame is expected to ship sometime this spring, although pricing has yet to be announced.
