Samsung adds four netbooks running Pine Trail

Samsung N150, N210, N220 and NB30 official

Not content to start its introductions early with the NX10, Samsung tonight unveiled four netbooks all running Atom chips based on Intel's Pine Trail platform. The N150, N210, N220 and NB30 all have the 1.66GHz Atom chip and get longer battery life, ranging from 8.5 hours in the N150 to a full 12 hours in the N210 and N220. All have 10-inch displays and a new casing that resists scratches and other flaws.

Differences between the systems are subtle but important, the company says. The N150 as the basic model has a seamless hinge and basics like a webcam and Wi-Fi, though a leak has shown that it should have the option of a Qualcomm Gobi chip for dual-mode 3G. The N210 and N220 have a new "crystal" design, 12-hour batteries and a Linux-based instant-on tool for accessing the Internet. Uniquely, the NB30 is considered a rugged model and has both a splash-resistant case as well as a free-fall sensor on its hard drive.

Samsung hasn't disclosed prices but expects to ship all four systems worldwide this month.
