Samsung i899 with Android coming to China in 2010

Samsung has unveiled a new handset for its China market and only its third Android phone, the i899. The device is being made especially for China Telecom, the country's third biggest carrier and will support CDMA/EVDO networks. Like the Galaxy, it centers on a 3.2-inch AMOLED display but uses an older, less costly resistive touchscreen instead of the capacitive found on the Galaxy and Behold II.

Unlike some Chinese smartphones, it supports Wi-Fi in addition to China's own WAPI wireless LAN standard. A GPS receiver is likewise integrated. Powering the device is a strong 800MHz processor, and internal storage is set at 512MB, though can be expanded using a 32GB microSDHC memory card. Photos and videos can be captured through a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and a flash. DivX video support also renders it somewhat rare among Android phones.

While pricing has not been revealed, the i899 is expected to be out in China early in 2010. If or when the device is due for a North American release is unknown. [via UnwiredView]
