Ford 2010 cars to support iTunes Tagging

Linked with HD Radio receivers

Some Ford cars shipping next year will support iTunes Tagging, the automaker has announced. In vehicles equipped with HD Radio receivers, people will be able to push "Tag" buttons on their displays, automatically saving the track data from on-air music. Once an iPod is docked with a car via Ford Sync, up to 100 tags will be transferable for later display in iTunes.

Tagged songs are generally meant to be bought through the iTunes Store. HD Radio remains a relatively niche technology, but is now said to be an option for just under 2,000 radio stations in the US. Ford has not revealed which car lines will support the tagging technology.

    HD Radio is a Farce!

"DEAD AIR: Radio’s Great Leap Forward stalling in the Valley"

"Nearly two years after the Valley’s four Clear Channel stations went HD, several high-end car manufacturers have promised to offer HD radios as an option on new models. But while Ford announced in September that it offers the radios as dealer-installed upgrades — as have Mini, Volvo, Jaguar and BMW — local Ford and Lincoln dealers had not heard of HD and said they don’t offer the option."

As an investor in iBiquity, Ford was supposed to be adding HD Radio starting back in 2007, but it never materialized. Of course, analog FM also has iTunes tagging. HD Radio is a farce! http://hdradiofarce.blogspot.com

    Sync

Ford Sync = Microsoft Sync. Another reason I will never buy a Ford.
