Analyst: Motorola set to launch two new phones at CES

AT&T phone could be new Android smartphone

Motorola may be set to launch two new handsets at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, according to Global Equities analyst Trip Chowdhry. The company is expected to announce an Android-based smartphone headed for AT&T's network. The device is said to feature an OLED display, a physical keyboard, and the standard list of Google utilities.

Previous reports suggest AT&T will get the Motorola Motus, a handset which integrates a unique keyboard that flips backward and remains exposed when the device is closed. Early rumors pointed to Android 1.5 paired with Motorola's MOTOBLUR interface, although Chowdhry claims the device will stick with the standard Android layout.

The analyst report suggests Motorola "may announce" a separate Android handset for Verizon's network. Chowdhry references an OLED screen and soft keyboard, potentially pointing to the rumored Sholes tablet that has been described as a keyboardless version of the Droid.

The Motorola rumors have yet to be confirmed, however the company has scheduled a special event on January 6th at CES.
