Windows Mobile phones gain Bluetooth sync
Eltima has released SyncMate 2.5, a major update of the company's Mac software. Users can sync Mac data to various cellphones, as well as Windows machines, other Macs, Google websites and the Sony PSP. Backups can be saved online as an extra precaution. New to v2.5 is autosync, which allows syncing based on criteria such as a device connection or a given time delay.
The app can correspondingly be used to sync in real-time, though not with phones. Windows Mobile hardware has been given the option of Bluetooth sync, and USB devices can now be added to an ignore list. New video conversion options allow the creation of ASF, AVI, MPG, MP4, WMV and 3GP output through an iTunes plugin.
Other changes include sync of Safari bookmarks with Windows browsers, photo and video sync between several Macs, and a search option for call histories and SMS messages. Texts can be exported into TXT, CSV or HTML files. SyncMate runs on Mac OS X 10.4 or later, and is available in Free and and Expert editions. Expert, priced at $40, is needed to sync material such as bookmarks, photos and video.
