Apple drops MacBook educational pricing down to $900

updated 08:10 pm EST, Mon December 28, 2009

Basic White model offered with 2.26GHz CPU

Apple recently dropped the MacBook's educational pricing, bringing the entry-level model down to $899. The additional $50 discount only applies to the 13-inch polycarbonate model which features a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and a seven-hour battery. MacBook Pro educational pricing still starts at $1,099, while the basic MacBook Air is available for $1,399.

The special pricing is limited to faculty, staff, students, and other select individuals associated with K-12 schools or higher-education institutions.

Still $125+ more than online joints

    No match for online joints.

    California:
    $899 + sales tax + $8 environmental fee = $994.65

    Mac Connection: $869

that last bit is a tad erroneous

the last paragraph implies that educational pricing is good for all students. it is NOT. it is college students only. the whole k-12 is teachers only.

which is my only real beef with Apple. frankly I think it should be high school and college students if not all students. some private schools, especially here in LA are requiring students to have access to a computer at home. hooking them into that discount is a nice little market of potential switchers. so it would be a win-win.
