JVC outs HP-FX700 wood grain earbuds

Two years after launching its FX-500 wood grain earbuds, JVC today unveiled an upgrade, the HP-FX700 set. The new earbuds have better sound quality thanks to a hybrid dual cone, with a peak output of 104dB at 1mW. Frequency response range is rated at between 6Hz and 26,000Hz at 16Ω.

The improvements are largely thanks to bigger drivers, now at 10mm versus 8.5mm, which boosts the mass of the earbuds by 2 grams to 9.6. JVC also took pains to design the canal for an efficient sound delivery inside the birch wood housing.

The HP-FX700 includes three silicon eartips for a comfortable fit, along with a carrying case. A 2.6-foot long cord also gets a 2.3 foot extension. They will ship in Japan in February, priced at the equivalent of about $320. Eventually, the FX700s are expected to show in North America as well. [via Impress]
