LG Prada III will get Android, arrive at Sprint?

updated 03:30 pm EST, Wed December 23, 2009

LG Prada III to use Android, come to Sprint?

The Prada II handset from LG may soon be replaced by a third version that may use Android. According to LG, the new Prada will have new hardware to match its improved software, for better overall performance. Since the handset maker's second Android phone is already known to be sporting a QWERTY keyboard, it's believed the Prada III may become LG's first high-end device compared to the budget-ready Eve.

It may also be the first Prada model available through a US provider, Sprint. The latter is holding a fashion-oriented press event at the CES show in Las Vegas early in January and may use this to unveil the device.

However, it's also been noted that Sprint and LG could instead announce a successor to the Lotus LX600, the Lotus 2. The mid-range feature phone is said to have an exterior touchscreen and open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Storage could be expanded with a 32GB microSDHC memory card. It will not be as luxury oriented as the Prada 3, however, which regardless of its OS should become available in the first quarter of the year. [via Unthinkable]
