Game will also feature AdMob commercials
Tapulous has announced that the Tap Tap Revenge 3 game will now be offered as a free download as the developer attempts to expand its customer base. The company has decided to take advantage of in-app purchases to generate revenue, eliminating the $1 up-front price initially required when the game was first released.
Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem told The Business Insider his company has sold over 1 million songs using via in-app purchases, while the Tap Tap Revenge series has been downloaded over 20 million times. A recent report suggests the company is bringing in over $1 million in monthly sales across its entire range of App Store content.
Although the company is sacrificing immediate profit from each app, the recent move is expected to improve the sheer number of downloads by a significant margin. Along with in-app purchases, Tap Tap Revenge 3 will bring in advertising revenue from seven-second AdMob videos for Windows 7.
