New Stream Profiler integrates Visual Studio 2008

AMD on Monday introduced an update to its ATI Stream SDK. The utility allows developers to utilize combined CPU and GPU power for accelerating applications. Version 2.0 now supports OpenCL 1.0 and atomic function for 32-bit integers, while adding a new Visual Studio 2008-integrated ATI Stream Profiler.

The update also offers preview support for several upcoming features including OpenGL and DirectX 10 interoperability, along with double-precision floating point basic arithmetic in OpenCL C kernels.

The OpenCL framework, a standard initially proposed by Apple, is designed to take advantage of the latest multi-cored CPUs and GPUs. The technology is currently supported by a wide range of platforms including NVIDIA's CUDA-enabled cards and many of AMD's Radeon HD components, among others.
