Google phone photo confirms HTC design

updated 10:50 am EST, Sun December 13, 2009

HTC Passion confirmed at Google campus

The purported Google phone, the Nexus One, has been virtually confirmed through a Twitter update from San Francisco marketer Cory O'Brien. A photo of the Android 2.1 device shows it to be none other than the previously leaked HTC Passion and as a consequence should have the 3.5- to 3.7-inch OLED touchscreen, trackball, 5-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi of the promised design. Previously, an Electronista tipster had already confirmed that the version given to Google employees supports native T-Mobile 3G.

As every Google developer phone to date has been a variant of a production phone for the US, it's probable the Nexus One seen here will be very similar to the public version expected in January. A list of codenames has mentioned a CDMA version of the Passion that could be Verizon's next Droid variant and implies that the Nexus One will be one of HTC's few non-exclusive Android phones in the US.

    But

Isn't this just more likely to be an HTC model running the latest Android OS for testing, rather than a purported 'Google phone'?

So why do you keep insisting on calling it a freakin' "Google phone"?

    Uh....

I took the case off of my iPhone, which it sits in 99.99% of the time, and compared it to the reflection in the photo provided there, and it's exactly where the camera lens is on my phone. it's a white iPhone. You can even see the silver hold button!

And who cares about what 'phone' took the picture. I was talking about the thing in the picture. You know, the proclaimed 'google phone'.
