Fusion Garage sees 3G, subsidized models too

Fusion Garage chief Chandrasekhar Rathakrishnan in an interview published today has provided details of how the Joojoo tablet's performance as well as its future plans. The company lead confirms that the Atom-based tablet carries 1GB of RAM but also has a dedicated graphics processor instrumental to its 1080p Flash playback as well as better 3D. Rathakrishnan claims to Engadget that the Joojoo has enough 3D performance to support 'at least iPhone level' games.

He additionally clarified the company's intentions for 3G, noting that a slot on the side is in place to add it later and that hardware should be ready sometime in 2010. Talks are also reportedly underway for a subsidized version through a carrier, even without 3G, though with whom and under what possible terms isn't mentioned.

Aside from offering a potential gaming platform, Fusion Garage may also imitate Apple's strategy for its rumored tablet and land book publisher deals for e-books optimized for its all-touchscreen interface.

The news is important to justifying the tablet's relatively high $499 price tag but comes just as the company is facing a lawsuit which not only accuses Fusion Garage of misappropriating work but of lacking the funds to produce the tablet as promised.

    Not even Apple ...

At least Apple keeps their mouth shut rather than making promises before it even can deliver them.

I see that Arrington's dramarama finally makes it to *nn. Just a little background about Fusion Garage, seeing as they're about to be sued (and win) by the law clerk turned VC.

Mikey Arrington, please learn about other cultures:

Oh no! Mikey didn't use Foxconn!

Even if he did, he might have this kind of trouble:

    Mentok out.

    iPhone mentioned

This product has little to do with Apple. Did MaCNN do an "iPhone" keyword search in Google News section just to find anyone mentioned the word "iPhone"?

well most of the time. Remember the promise of push tech for the 3g? They were only a year off of that.

    The name?

Even if this gadget is pretty good who would buy one with a name like "JooJoo"? The same people who buy "Zunes"? Where do they come up with these names? Who is their marketing consultant? Apple (Steve) came up with the "i" moniker and it became a cultural icon because it actually made some sense.
