Meizu's iPhone clone to get its own app store

updated 06:20 pm EST, Wed December 9, 2009

iPhone cloner Meizu to borrow app strategy

Meizu executive Hailiang Hua has M8 initially followed Apple's iPhone design closely, the unnamed shop will initially follow a similar model that gives M8 owners software designed for the originally Windows CE-based Chinese smartphone. It should go so far as to replicate the 70/30 split in revenue as an incentive to developers.

The portal has already been in testing and should go live as soon as this month; it should include free credits for M8 owners to spur adoption and may eventually expand payment options to include payment options that better suit a Chinese audience used to prepaid sales, such as physical cards or the local PayPal-like service AliPay. If the Meizu expects to compete

running Windows Mobile OS then I think they're gonna be in for a bit of a rough time. That platform is really fading fast and by the time Windows Mobile 7 is out Microsoft is going to need to build a new user base from scratch.

    Meizu will

need to pay its developers to put apps on the store else I think they will have a hard time getting much content.

    ... clone them!

They will just copy the ideas from the most popular apps and put those clones on their app store.
