Motorola's first Android phone for iDEN spotted

updated 01:45 pm EST, Sun December 6, 2009

Moto Opus One a push-to-talk Android phone

Motorola will be the first to produce a push-to-talk phone for Android if a leak proves true. The Opus One appears destined for Sprint's iDEN network and would make for one of the few modern smartphones to support the network. It would be a touchscreen-dependent device without a keyboard, but it would have a direction pad and should be particularly thin compared to even most other Android devices.

Few other details are available from the BGR tipster, including whether or not the phone would use Motorola's MOTOBLUR interface or else a stock build of Android. Its release details are equally unknown, though its next opportunities for a high-profile launch are CES in January, Mobile World Congress in February and CTIA in March.
