updated 05:35 pm EST, Thu December 3, 2009

Software handles moving objects without blur

STOIK Imaging has launched a Mac beta of its PanoramaMaker software. The software claims the unique ability to handle moving objects without allowing blur to ruin the stitched images. It also features lens and geometrical compensation, while allowing users to manually match images. Tools are provided for correcting uneven brightness, double-edge defects and curves in the final output.

The software runs a three-step process allows users to add images from the built-in photo browser, select a stitching mode, and run the processing. Output choices include horizontal, vertical, 360-degree or tiled panoramas, while manual control is offered for difficult stitching work.

PanoramaMaker requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and is compatible with Snow Leopard. The beta version is free to download. Although pricing for the Mac release has yet to be announced, the Windows version costs $40.
