Windows Mobile 7 to get IE7, better game UI

LinkedIn spoils Win Mobile 7 features

A series of LinkedIn resumes have spoiled some of Microsoft's plans for Windows Mobile 7. In addition to reinforcing CEO Steve Ballmer's admission that the phone OS will have Zune features, the profiles show that the phone will have an optimized game experience. It's also teased that a mobile Internet Explorer 7 will make its appearance, that elements of Portable Media Center should make an appearance, and that it will support Microsoft online technologies like the Silverlight plug-in and SharePoint collaboration servers.

The at times detailed descriptions additionally point to Motorola developing a Windows Mobile 7 device and to features that are widely expected for the release, including touchscreen gestures and a new keyboard layout ready for fingers, not just styluses.

None of the postings discovered so far narrow down release information, but the first handsets preloaded with Windows Mobile 7 should ship in the second half of 2010. Some of these devices may be "reference" devices based on common specifications from Microsoft, such as a high-speed OMAP processor, an 800x480 touchscreen and other components that will be contemporary but still high-end by the time the OS ships.
