Verizon asks Sprint to drop 'most dependable' claims

updated 05:10 pm EST, Tue November 24, 2009

Verizon argues Sprint's best network claims

Wireless provider Verizon's requests to the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus was heard and the national ad watchdog is now asking Sprint to cease calling itself "America's most dependable 3G network." According to a Tuesday report, the division argued independent tests performed by Nielsen Co. showed Verizon in fact suffers from fewer blocked or dropped calls than Sprint. In response, Sprint is asking the parties to consider test numbers from more than one source in order to help eliminate one-time events that include bad weather or bad cell towers.

Sprint isn't backing down from its claims and stated it will appeal the recommendation with the National Advertising Review Board.

Such complaints are becoming more commonplace, as AT&T recently sued Verizon over misleading ads, and there was a lawsuit filed by Telus against Rogers in Canada.

    Verizon is better

Verizon is the most dependable and they have the best coverage. I canceled my contract and bought a Straight Talk phone which runs on Verizon's network nationwide so I know what I'm talking about. Now I only pay $45per month for unlimited talk, texts and data whee before I would have paid over $100. I am very happy with my new phone and Verizon's coverage.

    Straight!

There's a reason that Straight Talk is as popular as it is: the price is awesome, of course, as Bethharvey notes, and the network is the best in the country.

It's now available at Walmarts throughout the US and online at: http://straighttalk.com/ShopPhones

    Go for it!
