EA Mobile releases Monopoly app for the iPhone

updated 09:00 pm EST, Sun November 22, 2009

Monopoly now iPhone 3G compatible

EA Mobile has expanded its line of iPhone and iPod touch games with the release of Monopoly. The app is based on the original board game, unlike the company's Here and Now edition that was previously released on the App Store. Players must choose a 3D token to move around the board and purchase properties, win money, and attempt to control key areas to push out their competitors. Shaking the device allows users to roll the virtual dice to determine each move.

The app allows iTunes music to be played in the background, while track playback can be controlled without leaving the Monopoly interface. Multi-player support is also included, enabling gameplay with up to four different users via Wi-Fi, or with two players using Bluetooth. The game provides three different difficulty settings to choose from, while users can save the game at any time.

Monopoly for the iPhone is currently available directly from the App Store for $5.
