Motorola Motus spotted, headed to AT&T?

updated 12:20 pm EST, Fri November 20, 2009

Moto making companion to Cliq

Motorola's Motus has been spotted in a leak that also suggests it won't be exclusive to T-Mobile. The device appears to be a smaller version of the Cliq with its directional pad "hidden" in the QWERTY keyboard section. A lone photo from AndroidAndMe also suggests it will be a "reverse" flip where the phone opens like a clamshell, although it's not yet confirmed at this stage.

The phone would still be based on Android 1.5 with Motorola's own MOTOBLUR interface on top and would share many of its hardware traits, including a 3.1-inch 480x320 touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera, GPS, microSDHC storage and Wi-Fi. Unlike the T-Mobile exclusive Cliq, though, this model would not only recognize the 1,700MHz band needed for T-Mobile but also the 850MHz used by AT&T as well as most Canadian carriers.

The previously available roadmap had the Motus arriving in early 2010 and, given industry events, may see it unveiled in the first two months of the year.
