ASUS launches first GeForce 3D Vision notebook

updated 10:40 am EST, Wed November 18, 2009

ASUS G51J 3D also has Core i7

ASUS today officially took the wraps from the first notebook to use NVIDIA's GeForce 3D Vision. The G51J 3D uses both NVIDIA's special glasses and a 120Hz LCD to add spatial depth to games that support it, such as Arkham Asylum and Borderlands. The combination of a 1.6GHz Core i7 and a GeForce GTX 260M help run the games at the 15.6-inch notebook's native 1366x768 resolution.

In keeping with ASUS' usual practices, the company doesn't provide concrete specs or pricing but instead provides a range of possible options. As much as 4GB of RAM can fit in the system, while hard drive storage varies between 250GB and 500GB. Blu-ray and DVD are both options for optical drives.

The G51J 3D should be available in early December and comes bundled with both the glasses and the necessary transmitter. Other companies with 3D notebooks, such as MSI and contractors like Clevo, should have their notebooks available next year.
