updated 05:25 pm EST, Tue November 17, 2009

Records iPhone Simulator screen

Just About Managing has announced SimCap 1.0, an iPhone Simulator screencapture utility. The title is designed for developers creating App Store images, or else professional demonstration videos. Extended sequences of stills can be captured, aiding with action shots. When recording video, users can choose whether or not to display cursors or gestures.

Other features allow the app to record the Simulator screen regardless of window position, and to automatically crop away the iPhone status bar if desired. Video is saved in the Apple-standard QuickTime H.264 format. SimCap requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher and is priced at $15 per license. A trial version operates normally for 14 days, after which all movies are watermarked.
