New Get a Mac ad takes over YouTube

Furthers campaign against Windows 7
Apple has deployed a new Get a Mac ad, this time directed not at TV audiences but at YouTube viewers. Mac (Justin Long) and PC (John Hodgman) stand at one side of the front page, watching security camera footage at the top showing former PC users entering Apple Stores. The people are switching instead of upgrading to Windows 7, Hodgman complains, because Apple is highest in customer satisfaction, and since they would have to migrate files anyway, they might as well switch to a Mac.
The ad is an extension of Apple's latest campaign, explicitly designed to attack Windows 7. The OS may be Apple's greatest threat in some time, as it has been generally well-reviewed, which could potentially slow or halt an overall increase in Mac users. PC sales have in fact been helped by the introduction of 7, but not so far to the extent predicted.

Not as good as some of the other ones, imo.

MacNN ????? ?why do you link to stuff I'm not inte

I can't understand how it's possible that you would not include a link to the video you are describing in an article, yet you link to other words, like "PC" ??
huh?
I assume the random links like "PC" are done automatically .. but no link to the article ? why??

The double-underscored links are automated ad placements. MacNN has no control over them. I find them highly annoying myself, since they pop up a window if you accidentally scroll over them.
HOWEVER, I just discovered that a Safari plug-in I use called "click2flash" blocks those ads! (Well, blocks the content - the box still comes up, but it's transparent, so it's nowhere near as bad to see.) So, there's yet another reason to use this fine plugin! Get it at http://click2flash.softonic.de/mac, or Google it for more info.

auto-links suck
11/12, 11:30am reply
The auto-links (those double under-scored) are enough to make me never want to go back to a site. It CERTAINLY ensures I will not do anything with any of the companies advertising via such links. I mean is there ANYONE who thinks these are a good idea?
ANYONE?

Daniel Eran Dilger puts an informed POV on the topic here:

Speeds of the different receivers in these devices is important. Note his point that large and growing portions of the AT&T 2G network are just about as fast as VZW's 3G, with AT&T's 3G being much faster.

Just click the ? at the top of that pop up window. it will open a new page with info about Vibrant In-text Advertising. It also gives you the option to disable those ads.

Seems they’ve already rotated the ad out. Several reloads reveal the Verizon ad instead.
