TiVo 802.11n adapter surfaces in FCC filing

updated 04:50 pm EST, Fri November 6, 2009

Unit expected to replace current 802.11g model

A recent FCC filing indicates that TiVo is readying an 802.11n accessory. The device, listed as the AN0100 Wireless 11n AP, appears to be a successor to the current AG0100 Wireless G USB network adapter the company sells for connecting its DVRs to a home network. The current model supports TiVoToGo, multi-room viewing, music, photos, and online scheduling.

The FCC documents lack a detailed description or images of the upcoming device, although the back panel appears to integrate an Ethernet port. It remains unknown if the company plans to expand the streaming capabilities of its set-top boxes, although the speed boost potentially could be used to improve support for HD content.
