Dell Android phone greenlit at FCC

Dell's Mini 3iX smartphone has edged closer to the US today with an FCC filing. While the phone itself isn't photographed, a label diagram confirms its identity as it identifies the handheld as a phone with UMTS-based 3G and Bluetooth.

Its frequency range also confirms North American 3G support as it will work at the faster speeds on the 850MHz band needed for carriers like AT&T, Bell, Roger and Telus. Previous leaks have suggested it will also carry Wi-Fi that was omitted from the Chinese Mini 3i due to temporary legal restrictions. A 3-megapixel camera and a 640x360 touchscreen should be common across both models.

Dell has already sent signals that a cousin of the Mini 3i would reach the US in 2010 but hasn't provided a more specific release window. [via Unwired View]
