Backs chief iPhone rival
Sailing Software has released v1.1.4 of Sailing Media Sync, its multi-platform file transfer software. The Mac edition syncs music and podcasts from iTunes with phones other than those made by Apple. Playlists are preserved, including those created with Genius. Photos can be synced from Aperture and iPhoto.
Version 1.1.4 is explicitly designed to support the Droid, a prominent new Motorola smartphone based on the Android 2.0 platform. Sailing Media Sync requires Mac OS X 10.4.11, as well as iTunes 7.6, and Aperture 2.x or iPhoto '08. Other devices supported by the app include phones from Palm, RIM, HTC, Nokia and others. Pricing is set at $22.
