Orb posts Mac version of media sharing software

Supports consoles, web browsers, media players

Orb Networks has launched a Mac port of its self-named media streaming software. The app funnels music, photos and video from a computer to other Internet-connected devices, including game consoles, notebooks and various cellphones, such as the iPhone when using the companion OrbLive app. Content is primarily sourced from an iTunes library, but can also be pulled from webcam feeds and connected gadgets.

Live TV support for the Mac is promised in the future, though this will also require a compatible tuner card. The Orb desktop client is a free download for systems running Mac OS X 10.5 or later. OrbLive costs $10, and supports the iPhone and iPod touch; the former allows streaming over 3G and EDGE as well as Wi-Fi.

    Finally

Well it's about damn time. This finally makes their iPhone app worth something. Glad to see some competition for Simplify Media; they need to be kept on their toes.
