TwitterPeek official, promises lifetime tweets

TwitterPeek goes on sale

Following rumors last week, Peek on Tuesday launched its expected TwitterPeek. It embraces the same single-purpose philosophy of the earlier device and here is dedicated solely to Twitter: users can check their feed and write posts or replies. Its always active use of T-Mobile's EDGE network lets it provide updates most anywhere inside the US without having to manually refresh or look for an access point.

The device as before has a hardware QWERTY keyboard but doesn't yet have a way to verify web links or check photos. A fix for at least the former is coming, Peek says. However, the company is counting on both a long four-day battery life as well as its contract-free, lower-priced and optionally lifetime service to draw in users.

Versions of the TwitterPeek are available in a charcoal black or Twitter-themed aqua blue and have different prices depending on the user's plan: a version with lifetime service costs $200, while more cautious buyers can opt for the same device at $100 but with only six months of free service. Access costs $8 per month afterwards.
