T-Mobile suffers nationwide outage

T-Mobile sees data, voice outages

T-Mobile users tonight have been reporting a widespread outage of service across the US. Those affected are finding themselves unable to call or use data services like 3G or messaging. The exact cause of the outage isn't currently known.

A spokesperson for the company has acknowledged an ongoing problem and that a fix is underway but hasn't said how soon it expects service will return.

The outage compounds T-Mobile's recent network troubles, which were highlighted by its two-week Sidekick outage that nearly cost many users their contacts and other online data.

    SJ was right!

It's probably some careless jailbroken iPhone user who brought it down... Steve Jobs was right all along!

    Over exaggerated

Once again Macnn takes a non-news event (confirmed by twitter no less!) and blows it way out of proportion. So part of the network went down in a region or two you say... Show me a network that this has never happened to and then you'll have news. I have experienced no more problems with TMo's network over the past 48 hrs than I normally do, which is to say that there were no issues whatsoever.

    Re: SJ was right

Technically it was a maliciously unlocked and jailbroken phone. Just jailbreaking it wouldn't allow it to work on T-Mobile's network.

Unless, the jailbroken iPhone caused it to confuse the towers it was talking to, and those damn unapproved apps on the phone started sending out jamming signals to all T-Mobile towers as payback for not responding to the iPhone request for a channel. Then it could have been just a jailbroken phone.

Thank god we're safe on AT&T.

Whatever they are trying to tell me - blah-blah - THEY GOT HACKED BIG TIME!!! And even customers know it, I do not understand why they have to lie to the public! I am a customer of theirs (not proud!) and I started getting spammed by someone that hacked their own mail server for customers - the!!! and asking for credit card info and otehr personal information...So yea, they are trying to make people believe it is nothing big, but it is, because if their servers are taken, we are ALL IN BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
