Olympus China website hints E-P2 camera due soon

updated 04:40 pm EDT, Wed October 28, 2009

Olympus E-P2 Micro Four Thirds camera due Oct 31?

A less expensive companion to the Olympus E-P1 digital camera, the E-P2, may be officially revealed on October 31st. This is indicated by Olympus' Chinese website, which is already listing the camera. Both the E-P1 and E-P2 rely on the Micro Four Thirds standard.

The E-P2 is expected to sport the same retro styling of the E-P1, but what it will offer beyond the existing camera isn't clear. No actual release dates or pricing information for the E-P2 are known.

The E-P1 is being marketed as a mix between a DSLR camera and a point and shoot, due to its functionality and compact size. It can capture 12.3-megapixel images and ships with either a 14-42mm lens or a 17mm pancake lens. It is now available, priced at $800. [via CrunchGear]
