Sony Ericsson launches teaser site for XPERIA X3

updated 11:20 pm EDT, Mon October 26, 2009

Company's first Android-based smartphone

Sony Ericcson has launched a teaser site for its upcoming Rachael smartphone. Although the site does not directly name Rachael, se-blog.com blogger Michell Bak noticed that several references to the project's codename are contained in the page's source code. Sony Ericsson South Africa later confirmed the association between the teaser page and the upcoming device.

"Sometimes there's a thin line between the extraordinary and the magical," the page reads. "Did we cross it?"

Photos of the device allegedly leaked earlier this year, indicating the phone would fit into the XPERIA series. Unconfirmed reports suggest the handset will run Android 2.0 and integrate a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, an 8-megapixel autofocusing camera and 3G speeds reaching 7.2Mbps.

Pricing and launch information remain unknown, although the teaser site suggests a formal announcement is scheduled for November 3rd.

    If you have to ask...

the answer is no. You did not cross the line from "poor copy of the original iPhone" to "a unique device that people will buy for another reason besides it being available on none-AT&T networks".
