Walmart adds tech support staff

updated 04:25 pm EDT, Fri October 23, 2009

Walmart begins offering tech support services

Retail chain Walmart on Thursday said it's now offering technical support staff at its locations. The staff will come from NEW Customer Service Companies, and will be available in all US Walmart stores, launching in October and in time for the holiday shopping season. With the offering, Wal-Mart is following in the footsteps of big box electronics retailer Best Buy's Geek Squad.

Included in the service are a consultation and a tutorial to educate users on the functionality of their new home theater system. The range of services includes setting up a television set and wireless network router all the way to a complete home theater system or home office computer network. Pricing ranges from $99 to $339.

    Staff is useless

I went to buy a hard drive at wal-mart that was on sale.

It took 6 staff 15 minutes to figure out how to remove the security tags. I told them how to remove it, and they did not listen. The cashier then took another 5 minutes trying to figure out how to discount something on sale.

Would you trust these people with your $1000+ equipment? I'll take a real professional from a local business than an idiot from wal-mart.
