Verizon outs subsidized HP netbooks

To coincide with the release of Windows 7 on Thursday, Verizon has officially released the earlier rumored HP netbooks with a connection to its wireless data network. Only the 11.6-inch HP Mini 311-1037NR sports Windows 7 Home Premium, however, as the 10.1-inch HP Mini 110-1046NR includes Windows XP Home. Full specs of the devices are available, with the HP Mini 311 getting the NVIDIA Ion graphics platform along with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU and 2GB of RAM.

There is also a 160GB hard drive, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, along with an integrated webcam. Compatible data networks include Verizon's own EVDO Rev. A, as well as UMTS/HSPA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE. There is an integrated memory card reader, three USB ports, an HDMI and VGA output, as well as an Ethernet jack.

The 10.1-inch HP Mini 110-1046NR has a 1024x576 resolution display and is powered by the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU as the Mini 311. There is 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. Other specs are identical to the larger netbook as well, save for the inclusion of Bluetooth and an HDMI output.

The HP Mini 311-1037NR costs $250 after a $100 mail-in rebate and on a new two-year Mobile Broadband contract. The HP Mini 110-1046NR ships in mid-November for $200 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a two-year plan. There is a $40 per month plan that includes 250MB per month with each additional megabyte priced at $0.10 and a $60 plan that allows 5GB with a $0.05/MB overage fee.
