Acer intros 5738DG notebook with TriDef 3D display

Device utilizes GeForce 3D Vision stereosopic tech

Acer has formally introduced its first Aspire One notebook with a 3D display, the 5738DG. The device offers the same basic specs as the company's 5738 notebook, but trades the multi-touch display for a TriDef 3D screen. The 1366x768 display measures 15.6 inches corner-to-corner, with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium as the pre-installed operating system.

The device utilizes GeForce 3D Vision technology, essentially splitting a 120Hz signal into two 60Hz stereoscopic images. Like similar products, the 3D aspects are only visible when the user wears a special pair of polarized glasses.

The basic system integrates an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 CPU, along with 4GB of system memory. Graphics are driven by Radeon HD 4570 components with 512MB of dedicated memory and 2304MB of HyperMemory. A 320GB HDD, 802.11b/g/n connectivity, and a DVD player round out the specs.

The 5738DG notebook is expected to ship this week for $780.
