TomTom's iPhone Car Kit arrives in US online store for $120

Accessory adds built-in GPS antenna, speaker

Apple has added the TomTom Car Kit for iPhone to its US online store. The accessory provides an iPhone dock and an adjustable mount that can be attached to the windshield or dashboard. A built-in GPS receiver helps to improve accuracy compared to using the iPhone alone, while an integrated speaker and volume controls can be used to amplify the turn-by-turn instructions or hands-free calling.

The TomTom Car Kit is compatible with the iPhone 3G or 3GS and can be pre-ordered for $120, although an estimated shipping time-frame has yet to be announced. The TomTom navigation app can be purchased from the App Store for $100.

    This is crazy

Tom Tom has gone off the deep end with their pricing.

You can buy a Garmin 275T portable GPS for $200 with both Europe and North America maps. To get the same functionality with Tom Tom and iPhone you'd be spending more than double by the time you buy Europe and the USA plus this hardware mount.

It's a nice looking product but their greed is showing. Not a good deal at half the price.

    CRAZY IS RIGHT-!!

    Talk about gouging, Ouch!
I was kinda, looking forward to this and thought it would be of more value. Sad.

The only people that will pony up for this will be the family who's wife had to have an iPhone because hubby got one, and because she still can't find her way back home after dropping the kids off at school!
