DX4 mount expands internal Mac Pro drive capacity

updated 12:00 am EDT, Tue October 13, 2009

Supports up to four drives

Trans International has introduced the DX4, a new drive mount for Mac Pros. The unit fits inside a Pro's case, and supports up to four 2.5-inch SSD or conventional hard drives. Using a third-party SAS/SATA RAID adapter, drives can be connected in RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 or JBOD configurations.

The mounting system requires a single free PCIe slot, and includes custom power and signal cables. Separate versions of the DX4 are available for 2009 and 2006-2008 Pros, each costing $129. Bundling in a RocketRAID 2310 card raises prices to $274.
