AT&T to carry Nokia Booklet 3G for $299

updated 11:35 am EDT, Tue October 13, 2009

Nokia's 12-hour netbook ships to US

AT&T today said it would bring the Nokia Booklet 3G to the US as its most advanced netbook. The US version of the portable will ship preloaded with Windows 7 and arrive on the same day as the OS, October 22nd, as a Best Buy exclusive. It will sell for $299 when attached to a two-year, $60 monthly data contract but should still be less expensive at full price than the European version and will cost just $599 by itself.

The Booklet is Nokia's first entry into netbooks and has the familiar 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive, but is touted for its longevity: it has an extra-high capacity 16-cell battery that gives it as much as 12 hours of use, albeit with wireless off. Nokia makes it a point to offer more upscale construction with a light (2.8 pounds) and thin (0.8 inches) body as well as a 720p screen and HDMI video out.
