Artlantis 3 intros new geometry layers, animation effects

The Abvent Group has released Artlantis 3, a major update to the company's rendering software for architects, designers and planners. The suite uses a new layer structure, with scene, object, plant, lamp, animated object and billboard layers, as well as support for custom ones. Other new options include importing layers from ArchiCAD, or designating a layer as an automatic destination for a particular type of media.
Artlantis has also been upgraded with a faster and more accurate rendering engine, lighting fall-off presets and animated cloud and water effects, though the latter are only present in the Studio version of the suite. Both versions have been given editable anchor points, detachable model components, and a new media search tool. Import functions now support the Autodesk 2010 lineup, and users can now export to OBJ, FBX, U3D, DWF and SKP formats.
Version 3 runs on Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, and is split into Render and more advanced Studio editions. The latter can be used to render content for QuickTime VR panoramas. Exact prices for either are available from Abvent's distributors.
