ASUS prices, dates UL notebooks for the UK
ASUS has recently announced pricing and a release date for its previously announced UnLimited (UL) series of notebooks for the UK. Two of the three models will ship to the country's retail electronics stores on October 22nd. This includes the 13.3-inch UL30 and two variations of the 15.6-inch UL50, the UL50AG and UL50VG. There is no word on the 14-inch UL80, however. All three use Intel's CULV processors and some are claimed to provide up to 12 hours of battery life.
Other shared features include a brushed aluminum exterior that is under one inch thick, integrated Altec Lansing speakers, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, as well as a multitouch trackpad and a webcam. Windows 7 will be the preloaded operating system on all. A 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo CULV chip will be the standard offering on the British systems. Hard drives up to 500GB are offered, though the standard one is 250GB.
The UL50VG will sport a dedicated graphics processor, the GeForce G 210M. ASUS' Power4Gear power management lets users from four different profiles, including Turbo boost, which boosts performance by 33 percent compared to the most energy efficient Battery Saving setting, which should let the notebooks last for the marketed 12 hours.
The ASUS UL30 will be priced at the equivalent of $957 in the UK, with the UL50AG at $1,115 and the UL50VG at $1,277. All prices include tax. The UL50VG will also be offered through Carphone Warehouse for free when users sign up for a mobile broadband contract. Pricing and release dates for North America remain unknown, however.
