Samsung Moment intros with Android, QWERTY

Sprint used the start of the fall CTIA show today to launch the Samsung Moment, its second Android phone. The device brings a sliding QWERTY keyboard to the carrier's fledgling Android line and is also the first Sprint phone of any kind to use an AMOLED display. Using the 3.2-inch, organic touchscreen provides both much more accurate color than an LCD while simultaneously using less power.

The Moment is also one of Samsung's fastest ever phones and runs an 800MHz ARM processor versus the 528MHz chips found in most of HTC's Android smartphones. Its hardware is otherwise mid-range with a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi putting it on a par with newer devices. Unlike the Behold II, the slightly newer phone will use a stock Android interface instead of Samsung's in-house TouchWiz.

Moment units should ship to stores November 1st and will sell for $180 after both a contract, a $50 immediate discount and a large $100 mail-in rebate.
